Planet Wobble is a package containing three stories in book format and on CD-ROM that can be used in a variety of classroom situations. It is aimed at early readers and writers. The package is very user-friendly and a child could access most of the program independently. The activities consolidate early Literacy learning and cover a range of areas: matching, words, sentences, questions, writing and making a book. These are closely matched to the books. There is an easy-to-use interface and speech.

This reference tool supports some curriculum topics in Key Stage 3 Sc1, Sc2 and Sc3, and would also be appropriate for use with GCSE groups. The video clips and photographs are excellent and would augment classroom teaching, but the software would not be suitable for Special Needs pupils. The content and accompanying tasksheets are not linked to the National Curriculum, but demonstrate how to incorporate ICT skills in a science lesson. Access to an interactive whiteboard would be particularly useful.

This is an excellent resource for both Key Stages 3 and 4. It is easy to install and can be used in Windows-based applications, the Internet and email. Pupils can access a translation by simply running the cursor over a word – the Pop-up box then reveals the dictionary entry. The program can be ‘put to sleep’ when not required, so as not to intrude. This superb program will develop dictionary and reading skills.

Primary Living Worksheets is an invaluable classroom resource for use alongside a Maths scheme. When it was first produced, it was very good, this new improved version is excellent. Maths worksheets, starters and puzzles are all viewed in Excel, using Microsoft Explorer to navigate around the resource. Students can work at their own pace and instant feedback is given to their answers. It is designed for use at KS2 and even contains worksheets for Year 7 pupils which is handy for Year 6 teachers who need extension activities. Teachers are able to support all levels of ability in all year groups. References are made to the NNS where appropriate. Primary Living Worksheets is produced by a teacher who appears to have thought of everything!

The title is comprehensive in its coverage and has a good set of starting questions. It also makes a mundane task more interesting and challenging and the pupils enjoyed using it. The tutor activity gives sufficient information about punctuation so it can be used as a reference for pupils when writing generally and not specifically for sentence level work. It is a useful tool for any classroom.
