KS2 Content Evaluation

This website is a no-frills resource for students of Mathematics at Key Stages 2 and above. Each page is clear and quick to load. Navigation is simple, with a well-designed navigation bar. All links on the site work perfectly. Another useful feature is the A–Z site map. Many of the site’s pages are simply examples and explanations of mathematical processes. Other pages are more interactive, however, and provide the opportunity to demonstrate or practice skills and in this respect the website does well. There is a page of links to a variety of Maths websites. There are also printable nets of the five platonic solids, which proved popular with my Year 6 class, and several simple games and logic puzzles, including the Tower of Hanoi.

KS2 Classroom Evaluation

I introduced the Maths is Fun website to the class to enhance a variety of Numeracy skills. The pupils then worked (with a partner) to practice skills related to that particular day’s Numeracy lesson. The website gave opportunities for differentiation of a task, particularly in the Test Your Times Tables and Quick Maths Quiz section. Pupils were encouraged to choose the number operation requiring the most practice and the level of difficulty they should attempt. The beauty of the website is its variety and the ability to choose a test level suitable for a wide range of maths abilities. Moreover, the simple instructions and diagrams make the process of understanding and undertaking the task much quicker.
