The program is a useful resource for delivering the topic of Farming Diversity and helps to put the theory into context. The content, in particular the video clips, is of a very high quality, having derived from programmes shown on the 4Learning channel. The clips are brief and well edited. A hyperlinked glossary, properly differentiated task sheets and lesson plans are included in the software. Students can replay clips over and over again as they make their own notes, but this seems to knock out lip synch in clips where people are shown talking. The program may be used individually or with an interactive whiteboard. Read KS4 evaluation... |

This program deals with two interlinked geographical topics: factors affecting farming and diversification in farming. The material is effectively covered by means of numerous recent video clips, well supported by a picture gallery, web links and a great deal of clear, geographical data, as well as a simple glossary. The main focus is various aspects of farming in three LEDCs: China, India and The Philippines and one MEDC, Wales and the typical way of life of the people. Two lesson plans are included and the pupil assignments develop a variety of skills: geographical, ICT and study skills. The software is very easy to use: the interface is clean and uncluttered and navigation is simple and clear. This is a very useful piece of software for both Geography and ICT teachers.
