The eQuest - Year 6 CD-ROM and Teacher's Guide is a new, fun resource to support the development of Speaking and Listening through ICT. The animated Missions are appealing to Key Stage 2 children. The Prologue, Introduction and screen shots can be used for whole class teaching and discussion by use of a data projector or interactive whiteboard, and the games can be flexible to match the ICT facilities available to your school (classroom-based computer or regular slot in an ICT suite). I particularly liked the comprehensive Teacher's Guide which gives the busy teacher lots of ideas on how to structure and organise sessions but with the facility to be adapted to suit your own needs. The Missions provide experience, information, settings and context for the children to then write a variety of texts, from recounts and diaries to their own stories and playscripts building on the earlier work. The group work to complete the games helps the children listen and respond to the ideas of others, offer suggestions and recognise the importance of constructive criticism. A very useful resource to spend those eLearning credits on! Read KS2 evaluation... |
