KS2 Content Evaluation

TimeMaps Interactive Map of World History, is a useful, easy to navigate, animated, interactive Timeline/world map that enables children to develop an understanding of and view a period of history in a wider context. The program can be used in a variety of ways - for whole class teaching by use of a data projector or interactive whiteboard, with a small group using a PC or by individual and paired children moving through a module at their own pace. It can be used to introduce a topic or for assessment purposes by children to describe and explain what they have learnt about the chronology of the period studied. Using the disc with different year groups to introduce the various aspects to be covered in the History Curriculum will help the children to develop, understand and retain the chronology of key events and encourage independent learning.

KS2 Classroom Evaluation

The title was most successful in giving the pupils a better sense of chronology. This is a particularly difficult part of the curriculum to teach, as pupils struggle with the concept of ordering events over time. This software goes a long way to making this particular part of the curriculum easier to understand, and the two groups who used it went away with an enhanced understanding of where and when particular topics fitted into world History.
